2 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 pound mild Italian sausage
1 medium onion chopped
1/3 cup chopped carrot
1/3 cup chopped celery
3 minced garlic cloves
1/2 cup red wine
1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
1 - 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup half and half
Heat oil in large saucepan over medium heat. Add meat, onion, carrot, celery, and garlic; saute until meat begins to brown. Add wine and cook until wine evaporates, stirring often about 3 minutes. Stir in tomatoes, basil, oregano, balsamic vinegar and half and half. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer until sauce is thickened about 25 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve over pasta.
